VIDEO: Desmond Cole with the Black Power Hour

| News |

On October 25, 2017, Desmond Cole was invited to participate in a live recording of Black Power Hour at the University of King’s College’s School of Journalism. The live recording was followed by a Keynote address by Desmond, as well as a Q&A with participants from the audience.

Desmond resigned from his column at the Toronto Star when he was ordered to choose between his journalism and his activism. His essay, The Skin I’m In, explored his experiences with street checks and racial profiling. Desmond has worked with Black Lives Matter Toronto to draw attention to the shooting of Andrew Loku and to demand an inquiry. He has also been active in challenging racism on the Toronto School Board and in the education system. He was featured in a recent documentary, Black In Canada, on CBC.
