Workers Action Centre
The Halifax Workers’ Action Centre (WAC) was founded in 2017 by the Halifax-Dartmouth & District Labour Council and Solidarity K’jipuktuk / Halifax.
The Workers’ Action Centre provides help to workers with labour standards issues, unpaid wages, terminations, workplace discrimination, and more. The WAC provides free, one-on-one assistance at employment law information clinics. The WAC also offers presetnations for organizations and groups of co-workers on workplace rights and to help workers organize for workplace justice.
The WAC is committed to improving the lives and working conditions of low-waged and marginalized workers. We provide education and information to enable workers to organize for positive change. We are rooted in the following organizing principles: maximum possible involvement of the people affected by an issue, developing leadership amongst workers, sharing learning, and taking action for change.
